Baby Seely

As you can see, it has been awhile between posts due to some crazy changes in our lives. The biggest one happened this week. We welcomed...

Alyssa Dawn Seely into our family. She was born June 1, 2011 at Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento. She weighed 7 lbs, 7 oz. She has dark hair and stretches out 21.5 inches. She is very sweet and wiggly.

The labor and delivery process was unusual. I was scheduled for induction at 5 am and when I arrived before dawn, the doctor had not written any orders on how to start the process. Eventually the on call doctor arrived and got things underway. After some medication and pitocin I started having some contractions. To move things right along I went walking. I did tons of laps in the hall then finally I could really feel things happening. I got an epidural around 3 pm and was only about 4 cm dilated. I was finally able to relax and rest and just as I was falling asleep around 4:30 things started really happening. At 4:45 I was all of a sudden ready to push, and sure enough, there was her head. We waited a few minutes for the doctor to come in and by 5:18 pm she was born, healthy and crying.

I stayed in the hospital for 24 hours and I have been recovering miraculously well in the last few days. Tanner and Parker made a wonderful sign with Nana to welcome us home. We are so excited to have our little GIRL!
