A beautiful November happened here in Elk Grove this year. The rains have finally come back. We are so thankful for answered prayers! The fall colors have been loads of fun. The kids have been raking leaves and jumping in piles almost daily. In fact, we had so much rain that on one afternoon we had to get our rakes out during a downpour and clear out the storm drains to prevent our neighbors back yard and car from flooding. We were so excited to see a beautiful double rainbow as we raked in the rain. Alyssa gathered the beautiful leaves into a basket as we raked. So the colors have lingered around our home the entire month.

Tanner had a great month. At school his class brought it the second highest number of box tops, so his class won a dessert party. I helped count and organize the box tops drive, and we had 14,495 box tops come in for counting. It took forever to get it all done. Tanner's scout troupe walked in the Veteran's Day parade. Tanner had a great time with the scouts. Several families from the Mom's Club got together to watch the parade and the little kids ate snacks and generally had a great time. We love our favorite Veteran!

Parker finished up his soccer season with a final game, then a pizza party. In his last game many of the kids were tired and sluggish in the second half. The game was going pretty slowly and then the ball popped loose and Parker came out of the pack of kids running full steam and got to the ball before anyone else. It was like a little streak of purple came from nowhere. He was so happy to have a fast break away. Although the season had it's ups and downs, Parker decided he really likes soccer.

Alyssa still loves preschool. This month our field trip was to visit an airplane at the local executive airport. The plane is very cool. It was tethered out on the tarmac so we could look all around it and climb up into the cockpit. The grandfather of one of the kids in our group was a pilot for the Air Force, then retired and now flies for fun and bought this plane a few years ago. He showed us all of the ways an airplane moves and what it takes to fly this little plane. While we were there, we saw some other planes take off and land as well as a jet come in. The kids are very young and I think I enjoyed learning about all the knobs and dials more than any of them.

Our girls are fun little ladies. Jenna tried out the swings at the park for the first time this month. She loved the swings and squeaked with excitement. Jenna discovered her feet. She thinks they are mighty tasty so if her fingers don't make it to her mouth, then you can bet she will go for her toes. Alyssa created a great activity. She will pick tons of flowers from all over the yard to put in a bowl full of water. She loves the mini rose buds, so she will pick them by the handful. One afternoon we were waiting in the front yard for Tanner to get back from school and she picked all of these lovely little blooms. She holds them like they are the most precious thing in the world and she adores giving them to people. When she does something that she really likes she will wink at you and make a little clicking sound. It brightens my day.

In keeping with tradition, we had Thanksgiving at our house again this year. I cooked the traditional meal and we enjoyed some wonderful company. In the morning Darryl took the older kids to the park for some touch football. Jenna and I had some quiet time to get the food cooking. Our big meal happened around 2:30 and we ate until we were so very full. The Sorge family came and by now our kids think they are our cousins, so we just keep that thought alive. This year Kathy Cuenca and her friend John came. Kathy won the amazing guest prize by cleaning every dish in the kitchen after the meal was finished. We enjoyed some beautiful desserts and an evening of fun and games. We didn't want the evening to end, but we knew it should when the kids were ready to pass out. We are so thankful this year for a happy and healthy family. We are exceptionally grateful for all the rain.
